Fred Smith is one of Australia’s most remarkable artists. He has spent the last 10 years all over the globe: doing peace work in the war torn islands of the South Pacific, touring in America and travelling the Australian festival circuit where he has earned a reputation as a prolific and dynamic songwriter.

'I wanted to draw the way the sound of vibrating wires looked. Which immediately presented the difficulty of how to illustrate something that is invisible. Converting sound into a notation on a flat surface seemed an unlikely task; the sound filled the space. And so I added the threads.'
